Molly and I were joined by Leann and Rouge for a wonderful hike on Tanglewood Creek today. Many wildflowers could be seen along the path as we hiked the 8 Mile out and back trail. Our hike stopped a little short of our original goal of Rosalie peak, but the 3000 ft climb to the saddle made a good, day long, hike. Along the way we found GCGBFK Kodiak Falls Geocache. Another great day spent in the Colorado high country.

Molly and I went on a hike in Corwina Park today. This park is located near Kittredge CO. We started on a "hikers only" trail to Panorama Point then a mile or so no the Bear Creek Trail. We finished off our trip on the Meadow View Trail Loop and an Unmarked trail that took us back to Panorama Trail. On the trail we saw a doe deer and twin fawns. Many wild flowers were still in bloom too. We also found the "SeedPod Cache" GCHT3D. All in all a great day to be in the woods!

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Molly and I are enjoying our daily hikes less and less as the temperature hangs around the 100 F mark. Tonight we were blessed with a nice breeze and some cloud cover which was some relief from the heat.

We went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today to see " Lewis & Clark: The National Bicentennial Exhibition". Very nice! It was thrilling to see some of the actual artifacts including the journals. We also watched the Imax presentation of Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West. Now that was an Adventure.
While at the museum we went Geocaching and found "Denver Benchmark" GC52E2. A great way to spend the day.

When Molly, our dog, moved in with us in February, 2004, I decided to keep track of our hiking miles just for fun. After a year passed I realize that the number of miles we hiked together was really adding up. Last week we passed the 1500 Mile mark. Woo Hoo! To celebrate, I purchased a new pair of hiking boots for myself and a new collar for Molly.
Happy Trails!

Just returned from a wonderful holiday weekend in Kansas. We were able to hunt some Geocaches and benchmarks on our trip and even drove up to Nebraska to find a cache. The small town we stayed in had stock car races and a good fireworks display for Independence Day. A great time spent with family.

The wild flowers in the Open Space around our home are awesome. We are spending time every day looking at them and taking photographs. Molly gets a little upset when I stop so often to look at flowers but I remind her of her own habit of smelling every gross thing along the trail. Even trade I think.

While on our daily walk Molly and I saw numerous snakes on the trail. We have seen snakes before but only one here and one there. Tonight they were every few yards where the trail parallels the edge of the cattails. It was very warm this afternoon and they may have been sunning themselves. Strange.

Returned from our camping trip at Sylvan lake today. We had a great time hiking and fishing. Sylvan lake is a perfect place to fly fish from a float tube. Beautiful! Sonja caught the most Trout this trip. We got snowed on a bit making the scenery all the more spectacular. Molly and I hiked to the 10000 ft level on Sneeve Gulch Trail and had to turn back as the snow was still knee deep. We hunted for two benchmarks near the lake for some time with no luck. Another great adventure.

We did some Geocaching on our way to Sylvan Lake today. To our surprise we found our own TB, "Mini Merrell TB" in "Avon TB Depot" cache, It had traveled about 1113 miles when we found it. We'll set it on a shelf for a bit before letting it go again. On our next cache " Riverwalk Mini Cache" we watched the Fire Department training for water rescue in the Eagle River. Fun day!
