Molly and I have been mapping the trails in Deer Creek Canyon Park for some time. Our map has only lacked one trail. So today we set out to map the last 1.5 miles of the Black Bear Trail. The reason we have left this trail to last is the fact that it just ends and one must retrace their steps back to the main loop trail.  We did get the data needed to finish the map and enjoyed hiking on a beautiful fall day. The total distance hiked was just under 10 miles. Along the way we found a Geocache, (GC16T11) Bridge at Deer Creek.

I finished early today and decided to take Molly to Chatfield for another hike through the cottonwood grove. What a beautiful evening, cool unsettled weather, brightly colored leaves raining down, and good company. We meet a friend along the way. Mr. Great Horned Owl. Amazingly, he allowed us to get within 30 feet to take a few photos. After taking the shots we backed off and let him resume his hunting. What fun!

Molly and I found a Geocache while on our evening walk. With the sun setting early I had to use my head lamp to find it. Caching in the dark is way cool! Found (GC168OV) Straightaway.

Molly and I decided to spend some time at Chatfield this afternoon. We hiked around a bit, played in the South Platte and enjoyed walking in the downed leaves. The fall colors and cool weather made for a wonderful fall day. We also found a Geocache in the dog park, (GC1466T) Give me an S -Sparrow. This was a very well crafted and imaginative cache. Lots of fun!
